Few things rival the first cocktail after a day on the boat. But if anyone knows how to mix one up, it’s a fishing guide who spends their life on the water. Captains Lacey Kelly, Bear Holeman, and Benny Blanco share their favorite cocktails, inspired by life on the coast.
1. LACEY’S KEY LIME PICANTE BORRACHO MULE
“I sniped this recipe from my boyfriend who makes us these when we get off the water and kick back in the hammock shooting the breeze about the day. Hope you love it!” - Capt. Lacey Kelly, YETI Ambassador and fishing guide.
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Tequila
1/2 Key lime, juiced
Jalapeño, sliced
Ginger beer
Tajin® Clásico Seasoning
Lime wedge
Start with a good amount of ice in a Rambler® Cocktail Shaker. Take a few jalapeño slices, adjusting to your desired spice level (add in the seeds if you’re ready to get really spicy) and muddle with the ice to bring out all the flavors.
Next, add in the tequila and key lime juice. Give it a shake, and pour into a Tajin®-lined Rambler® Lowball with ice. Top with ginger beer and a lime wedge.
2. BEAR’S SANDBAR SIPPER
“This time of year we spend a lot more time at the sand bar with friends and try to have some ready to go drinks. This is one of our favorites, but make sure to roll the limes first and give them a good Bear squeeze to get all the juice out.” - Capt. Bear Holeman, YETI Ambassador and fishing guide.
INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Tequila blanco
1 oz. Key lime juice
¼ cup Fresh watermelon
Soda water
Combine the watermelon in a blender with the tequila and key lime juice. Pour it into a Rambler® Tumbler over ice and top with a splash of soda water.
3. BENNY’S KEY LIME COLADA
“Lorelei Cabana Bar is a legendary bar in the Florida Keys among guides and anglers. This cocktail is inspired by one of theirs and it’s exactly what you need when you get off the water.” - Capt. Benny Blanco, award-winning conservationist and fishing guide.
